I’d refute the allegations often thrown at me by Rafi fans that my Kishore vs Rafi threads were meant for dishonoring Rafi’s legacy or dividing Hindi music listeners into groups. No they are not, if you looked them closely. First of all, nobody is beyond critical scrutiny in this world. Neither Rafi Sahib nor Kishoreda. It’s up to an individual to think what they should debate or how they should do it. In my case, Kishore vs Rafi threads have brought me two goals. The first and more vocal of the two is perhaps, to take on those Rafians who have a tendency of looking down at Kishoreda, my favorite singer. But, I wouldn’t say I mean to seriously undermining or have anything else but lighthearted fun on them (I’ve even proposed, they could send me an appreciation on Rafi, and I shall publish it as it is). The second and not so vocal, yet more defining one, is to bring various fan-followings under one roof. Threads of “This vs That” nature only help mend the best minds.

My own observation says, the heritage of Indian Cinema and Arts in general has not been preserved, in the manner it should have been. Things they should/ could have documented for future generations have not been done. The onus of safeguarding works and mementos of the legends, finally rests on their kins I suppose, more so if they belonged to a lesser commercially successful category. Notwithstanding whom we might appreciate more at individual levels, Kishore, Rafi or Mukesh, it is the common heritage that makes sense, and I see this blog scoring positive results in that aspect, however small in nature. “Will fans go beyond debates and decide to physically intervene and safeguard the legacy someday”, is one more area I’d like to probe through my blogging in future.

MYQ, calling debates on this weblog foolish shows your own insanity. Dare this where the chat actually takes place and not in a forgotten thread like this one. The rest of your message seems fine, so I'm not deleting it, but be careful the next time. Also, do not err in making use of terms like "greatest" either. Nothing as such could be found in this world, and the moment you declared that, you only showed your own lack of intelligence. I have always desisted from doing it, as a Kishoreda fan myself. In this country of over a billion, there may be a few more if not many Mohammed Rafis and Kishore Kumars. There are several classical and regional singers who are no less virtuosos compared to any other modern greats, but since they are not dealing with the mass Hindi movie audience does not mean they are inferior. Go and put across this query to Telugu, Bengali, Kannada, Malayalam, Tamil, or even Gujarati fans, and you will get the answer. I know one Praful Dave in Gujarat who has swayed the last two generations of Gujarati folk music lovers to his side. So, be rational in making a debate in this regard. Btw, some people may fall asleep listening to a couple of the four songs you earlier spoke of. It depends on individual preferences, moods and the times any music may be listened to, and not on a given school of ideas to decide how it might impact a given audience. I've found Rafi fans highly lacking in particular, in making logical debates in this context. To other Rafi fans, you could make your boasting about Rafi Saab known at the following two threads. I'd prefer this space being left clean. No additional headache of moderating threads of this nature, please. Also, not being madly in love does not mean somebody rates Md. Rafi poorly. really one the best songs of rafi . He was simply great be it patriotic or devotional romantic sad naughty . In all moods i simply adore him and love him

Thanks for the update of Sikandar-e-Azam. Since I have been pondering over the patriotic songs of Rafi recently, yet another old patriotic song of Rafi has flashed in my mind, “Hum laye hain tufan se kashti nikaal ke, is desh ko rakhna mere bachchon sambhal ke”.

I remember a fabulous patriotic song of Mohd. Rafi which is a class by itself. That is ” Yeh Bharat desh hai mera”. But I don’t know the name of the film, neither the name of the Music Director. Can any one update me on that please?
